AMCI TESTING CERTIFIED TEST-BY-TEST RESULTS
AMCI TESTING CERTIFICATION OVERVIEW
AMCI Testing’s Certification protocol is based on the statistical imperative for unbiased, repeatable results:
AMCI Testing Certified performance is a multiple-driver average of each vehicle’s fastest laps within a window of repeatability
Handling was the focus of our track test; as such, we chose a highly technical configuration at Streets of Willow Springs
Streets Of Willow Springs lap times were an eight-lap average—not a single lap
More than 175 total laps were run to calculate each car’s window of repeatability and optimize electronic vehicle settings. All available configurations were tested and then set to provide the best performance for each vehicle. All cars were run with Electronic Stability Control off
Toyota Motor North America supplied a zero-mile, production-conforming GR Supra for this test. AMCI Testing obtained the BMW M2 Competition and Porsche Cayman PDK new from authorized dealers
All vehicles underwent AMCI Testing’s break-in procedure. All vehicles had 2,000 break-in miles at the start of the track test, and were broken-in per manufacturers’ recommendations
Track testing was conducted on new, scrubbed, OE tires

ABOUT AMCI TESTING
What Is AMCI Testing?
AMCI Testing is an independent automotive research firm committed to unbiased, comparative evaluations of automotive products. AMCI Testing evaluates, tests and critiques more than 150 cars and trucks each year at our test facilities in Southern California and private proving grounds worldwide.
Who does AMCI Testing work with?
For more than 35 years, major automotive OEMs have hired AMCI Testing as an impartial check on internal engineering achievements, and a third-party perspective on competitive vehicles in segment. We provide an anchoring outsider viewpoint on crucial marketing, branding, training and final product decisions.
The Importance Of Objectivity
Truth—as substantiated by scientific process and hard data—has always been the cornerstone of AMCI Testing’s commitment to our clients and consumers. We have spent more than three decades developing analytical protocols in nearly 400 areas—from performance and quality to long-term reliability and emissions.
In the absence of a national standard, MP6 uses the most reliable, accessible network to date: Tesla Supercharger and its ‘Magic Dock’ adapter.
WHY WE CHOSE 6 MINUTES.
Six minutes is the average time it takes to fuel an ICE vehicle. When you are out of charge or time in your EV, charging speed is what counts. Further, “To achieve the environmental promise of EVs there needs to be a greater emphasis on fast charging, not range,” according to AMCI Global CEO, David Stokols.
CHARGING SPEED OR RANGE?
According to Guy Mangiamele, Director of AMCI Testing, “There needs to be equal emphasis on vehicle range and charging speed. Regardless of range, when on the road, when short of time, or short of range, charging speed is what really matters.”
TEST METHODOLOGY
With EV charging methodology established over a decade, our proprietary protocol begins with 10% state of charge, MP6 is calculated over numerous charging sessions at stations always exceeding the vehicle’s maximum charge rate.
